Conference Venue

Berlin is undoubtedly the scientific and cultural metropolis in Germany.
There you find a host of museums, theatres, concert halls, opera houses, jazz locations and restaurants. It is easy to explore Berlin by yourself and to be absorbed by art and culture, shopping and entertainment. There is a close network of public transportation by underground and railway systems. A variety of interesting events will be provided by the organizers for the participants, as well as a special candle light dinner and dance in an overwhelming cultural surrounding. All of this makes Berlin the perfect place for an exchange of ideas, knowledge and social interaction.

The Freie Universität Berlin is located in Dahlem, a particularly green district of the city with a distinguished tradition of scholarly achievement. The Freie Universität is a lively and creative institution, which attracts students and researchers from all over the world. Its foundation was initiated by students and american armed forces immediately after World War II.

How to get to the conference venue

Public Transport

• Take U-Bahn (underground) U3 (direction “Krumme Lanke”)
  
• Get off at station “Thielplatz”
  
• Leave station in opposite direction (“Schwarzer Grund”)
  
• Turn right and cross the street (you will find IFSAM signposts there)
  
• Walk straight ahead for 200 m
  
• Turn right again after some 100 m you will see a silver coated building; that is the conference venue

Access to Venue by Car
from Hannover, Frankfurt and München: After reaching Berlin city limits leave the highway immediately choosing gateway Zehlendorf and drive along Potsdamer Chaussee/Straße, Berliner Straße, Unter den Eichen and turn right at Habelschwerdter Allee.

from Hamburg: Ride along highway Hamburg – Berlin up to gateway Berlin-Heiligensee, drive on in the direction of Heiligensee resp. Tegel Airport using the inner city highway up to the gateway of Hohenzollerndamm, then drive along Hohenzollerndamm, Clayallee, Berliner Straße, Unter den Eichen and turn right at Habelschwerdter Allee.

Access to Venue from Airport
Tegel: Catch bus X9 or bus 109 (direction of Hertzallee/Zoologischer Garten), get off at Jakob-Kaiser-Platz, get on underground line U7 (direction of Rudow); change train at Fehrbelliner Platz getting on line U3 (direction of Krumme Lanke), get off at Thielplatz (approx. 35 min. ride time).

Access to Venue from Train Stations
Bahnhof Zoo: From Station Zoologischer Garten catch underground line U9 (direction of Rathaus Steglitz), change train at Spichernstraße getting on line U3 (direction of Krumme Lanke), get off at Thielplatz (approx. 25 min. ride time).
